Different Ways to Celebrate LOVE This Valentine’s Day

Updated: May 31, 2021

I can’t believe it’s my 1-year BLOG-IVERSSARY! My first blog post was for Valentine’s Day, so I’ll celebrate my blog-iverssary with another Valentine’s Day post! I love how V-Day has evolved into a holiday that celebrates any type of love, making it a more inclusive holiday. I can admit, my favourite thing about this holiday is the day after when chocolates are discounted to 50% off! But enough about me. Today, I’m spreading with you all my love for blogging by sharing different ways you can celebrate what you LOVE this Valentine’s Day.

1. Dine Out Vancouver FestivalLove for Food

If you’re up for a great deal on 3-course meals, check out the list of restaurants participating in Dine Out Vancouver! It’s a great way to get a variety of food in one meal from places like The Boathouse, Chambar, Miku, and Kobe Japanese Restaurant. A lot of the restaurants offer take-out options, as well.

2. Hot Chocolate Fest (Jan 15-Feb 14)– Love for Hot Cocoa

Drinking hot chocolate on a cold walk outside is one of my favourite things to do in February. Enjoy a variety of hot chocolates from the classics to unique flavours while supporting small businesses in your area. So far, I’ve tried the Da Cocoa from Glenburn Soda Fountain and Beets Me Up from Passione Gelato, and they’ve been all so delicious. Check out the participating vendors here.

3. The Bachelor Marathon x Drinking Games – Love for Drama/Reality TV

Grab your girl gang and celebrate Galentine’s Day with a Bachelor Marathon. There are 25 seasons of the Bachelor, so there are many seasons to choose from, including Matt’s season which is more than halfway done. If you’re up for a challenge, include Bachelor drinking games – check out my Instagram page for some drinking game ideas.

4. Blind Wine TastingLove for Wine

Wine tasting is an art, but also something that takes time and practice. I love how wine tasting is all about enjoying what you’re consuming, testing what your senses can pick up, and taking in the present moment. Doing your tastings blind is even more so because you remove any judgments from the information on the wine bottle. It can almost be akin to mindfulness meditation, in my opinion. If you want to get better at wine tasting, there's no better time to practice than now. Check out my blog on wine tasting at home for some best practices and tips. If you're looking for some great wines to try, check out my wine recommendations page of blogs.

5. Pamper Yourself – Self Love

Allow yourself to indulge in your pleasures, whatever that is - from reading to a spa day to hiking or shopping. The situation right now is tough for everyone and puts a damper on people’s mental health, so be sure to check in on yourself and allow yourself to be pampered. You deserve it!

6. Wander to the Mountains – Love for Outdoors

Amazingly, we can escape to our local mountains in just a 30-minute drive. Head up to Grouse, Seymour, and Cypress for a day of winter activities - snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, whatever floats your boat. If you’re up for a longer drive, head up to Whistler. This is the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and what our beautiful city has to offer!

7. Clean your House – Love for Space and Organization

As much as house chores suck, it’s also therapeutic to clean and fulfilling when your space is tidy and organized. If your house is messy, this may be your calling to do just that. I can’t tell you how much clearer and better my mind can think with a clean space.

8. Thrift Shopping or Donating Old Things – Love for Giving Items a Longer Life and the Environment

If you’re up for a shopping adventure and scavenging for great finds, check out your local or online thrift stores. There are areas like Main St. with tons of thrift and consignment stores, so you can check out one after another. Either that or if you find a lot of old things you don’t use anymore when you're cleaning, donate them to your local charity box. Both activities are great ways to give back to your local community and be kinder to the environment.

Enjoy your Valentine's Day!
